What better way to play in the rain….Jack sports a pair of safety goggles as he plays in the front yard while Dylan swings on the tree swing. Seems like its been raining all spring — “no shit” says my wifey– when will it end?

Todd Rundgren Performs with Hocking College Students

Last night Todd Rundgren performed with students from Hocking College at the Southern Theatre in Columbus. The students were great! Todd was pretty cool and the theater was amazing. It was nice to photograph an event instead of writing.

Fun with Doughnuts

My youngest son turned seven two weeks ago and we just had a party for him yesterday. We only invited eight friends but with siblings and a few extra kids, we had 13 young, energetic and loud children in our very small home. We came up with a few party games that we thought they like. The biggest hit: doughnuts on a string. We also had any bubble gum blowing contest ( seven-year-olds can’t blow bubbles), and a decorate your-own-cupcake event. Also fun.

New year: 2011

Today is the first day of a new year. It will be a busy year. I am working on finishing my dissertation, looking for a job, moving and starting a life in another place. As time moves forward, I am excited and saddened for the changes. I have never been one to have too many regrets or dwell on things that did not come to pass. I have always tried to see the positive in life. This year will, hopefully have many.

The last day of 2010 was beautiful, sunny and warm. We went for a hike and a picnic in the hills behind our home. It was a great way to spend the last day of the year.

Rainy Season

It’s not like we actually have a rainy season –it just rains a lot in the fall, then turns to snow, then ice. The sky is gray and overcast and the general mood becomes ‘heavy.’ Some people get depressed and down. The holidays are right around the corner and brings up all kinds of issues: family, money.. life.

But, in all that ‘stuff’ we have to deal with, there are some good things–rainbows, and light. They are always there but sometimes we don’t have the right perspective to see them.

It was a quite weekend (so far) for us. We took the boys uptown for a bit and watched the festivities through the window at Brenen’s on Court Street. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon.
